Kayla Garcia
I have been wrestling
with the person in the
mirror. Yes, I’ve been taken
down once or twice but it
taught me lessons that
will stick to me like a
singlet. No matter how many
times I compete I’ll always
love the moment, those
few minutes before stepping
on the mat. When your
all alone with just your
thoughts in the back of
your mind when you know
there is a challenge waiting
for you on that 32 foot
circle. But for a while the
rest of the world fades,
away and it’s just you
it’s exciting, it’s powerful—
it’s all that adrenaline building
up to this moment but more
than anything it’s the most
peaceful thing I’ve ever known.
Kayla Garcia is currently a freshman at Rincon High School. When they are not studying and writing, they are also part of the RUHS wrestling team. Currently, Kayla is working hard to go to the university and make her family proud.
